Morbid little treats

I have some odd little things in my book A Dangerous Longing.  I wanted to share where some of the inspiration came from.

The stolen children.  The children being taken to fairy isn’t new but I did come across a really nice poem by William Allingham titled: The Fairies.  There are several verses to the poem but the one that I really liked goes as follows:

They stole little Bridget
For seven years long;
When she came down again
Her friends were all gone.
They took her lightly back
Between the night and morrow;
They thought she was fast asleep,
But she was dead with sorrow.
They have kept her ever since
Deep within the lake,
On a bed of flag leaves,
Watching till she wake
